KWIZDOM 2023: Celebrating academic brilliance and National Pride, Taaza TV and GRSE conclude thrilling Quiz on India's 75th Year of Independence

Taaza TV and Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE), under the Ministry of Defence, are delighted to announce the successful conclusion of "KWIZDOM 2023," a thrilling quiz contest held with 53,000 students from 112 schools across Kolkata and Howrah participating in this grand celebration of Glorious India. The event was organized as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, commemorating India's 75th Year of Independence.

The quiz competition witnessed intense quizzing at the Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium in Kolkata on August 6, 2023 with 6 school teams making it to the finals. From 112 schools the quarter finals were narrowed down to 24 school teams, further going down to 12 teams for the semi finals. Each team comprised of a preliminary test topper from class 8, 9 and 10 working together as a team.

The event's highlight was the esteemed presence of distinguished guests, including Cmde PR Hari IN(Retd), Chairman and Managing Director, GRSE; Smt. Priya Hari; Shri Bishambhar Newar, Chairman Taaza TV; Shri R K Dash, Director (Finance); DIG Subrato Ghosh, Director (Personnel); GRSE; Shri Naresh Jalan WiN Pens; Smt. Smita Bajoria, Consul General of Denmark for West Bengal and Smt. Richa Sharma, previously Mrs. India, among other esteemed Principals and dignitaries. Senior officials of GRSE graced the occasion as well.

The finalists showcased their brilliance in the quiz, and the top honours were claimed by:

Winners - Calcutta Boys School received Rs 60,000
Second Place - MC Kejriwal Vidyapeeth received Rs 30,000
Third Place - South Point School received Rs 15,000
Fourth Place - La Martiniere for Boys (Cash Prize)
Fifth Place - Shaw Public School (Cash Prize)
Sixth Place - Delhi Public School, Ruby Park (Cash Prize)

Apart from the cash prizes awarded to the finalists, GRSE has decided to extend a rare privilege to the Top 100 qualifiers by inviting them to the Mega Show of GRSE - The launch of an Advanced Guided Missile Frigate later in August 2023.

The quarter-finals took place at the National Library Auditorium, Kolkata, on August 5th, 2023, followed by the Semi-Finals and Final held at the Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium, Kolkata, on August 6th, 2023.

Students and Principals said the participation in this quiz competition provided an excellent opportunity for children to showcase their knowledge about their country and compete with talented individuals from other schools. It also fostered a spirit of healthy competition and teamwork among students.
